After a great
performance Cyprus defeated Wales 1-0 in the friendly match held
last nigh at Tsirio Stadium in Limassol. This was perhaps one of the
best performances of the Cyprus national team in the last couple of
years.
The Wales chief, John
Toshack, claims there were few positives to take from the defeat and
did not mince his words after the contest.
"That was the worst
international performance I have ever witnessed," he stated.
"I was embarrassed by
what I saw and I feel sorry for our fans for having to see that
because they came out to Cyprus in numbers to support us.
"I will now not see
these players for about four months so there is no point in not
saying how I feel. I have never been one for avoiding the issue.
"What I saw out there
bitterly disappointed me. I could have done better and so could many
of the players.
"We
were missing a lot of our first choice but that is not an excuse. It
goes with the territory of being Wales boss." |
