At a press conference
which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol earlier this
month in the presence of
Nar Zanolin, the Secretary General of FIBA Europe,
the beginning of the preparations for EuroCup All Star Day 2006 were
announced. The event logo was presented as well as a preliminary
programme of the event.
The
event is an exhibition of basketball between two teams -
Europe and Rest of the World. Rosters will
consist of 12 players per side and the game will be played to the
usual FIBA Europe League rules. 10 players per side will be voted by
the head coaches of all the FIBA Europe League clubs, as well as by
a fan vote on fibaeurope.com. The final 2 players per team will be
selected by a FIBA Europe panel of experts.
The
event is to be hosted by Cyprus for a second year in a row. It will
take place on the 14th of March 2006, in Limassol
at the Palais de Sport - a brand new stadium with a
seating capacity of 6300.
The preliminary programme already includes two dunking groups, three
cheerleading groups, a ball show, the three-point competition, music
and entertainment from Greek and Cypriot artists.... and more! |
